Often times, Scripture mentions "repentance"
instead of "faith," showing that these two concepts are
interchangeable and inseparable, opposite sides of the same coin:
- Or do you presume on the riches of his kindness and forbearance and patience, not knowing that God's kindness is meant to lead you to repentance? (Romans 2:4)
Since repentance and faith are inseparable - faith is
turning to the light, while repentance is turning from the darkness - to simply
mention "repentance" is to also imply faith.
The next verse makes it clear that as faith and salvation
are inseparable, so too are repentance and salvation:
- But because of your hard and impenitent [unrepentant] heart you are storing up wrath for yourself on the day of wrath when God's righteous judgment will be revealed.
A repentant-less faith is an unbiblical faith. To preach
such a gospel is to preach a false hope.
