ABORTION AND GOVERNOR ANDREW CUOMO

New York Democrat Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced a new “public awareness” campaign to promote abortion centers and to expose pro-life “misinformation.”

·       "While the federal government wages war on women's reproductive rights, New York will fight back to protect women's access to comprehensive, safe and affordable health care," Cuomo declared. "In New York, we refuse to let President Trump and Washington take us backwards and jeopardize the rights of New Yorkers. We are launching this public awareness campaign to combat the insidious spread of misleading, medically inaccurate information about reproductive health and to ensure all New York women know the options they are legally entitled to."

Hmm? I hadn’t realized that the Fed had been waging a war on woman’s reproductive rights. As far as I was aware, women can still buy pregnancy blocking drugs, devices, and services. No one is prohibiting women from exercising these rights. Nor have I heard that the Fed has any initiative planned to stop women from reproducing. Instead, it seems that if anyone is stopping women from reproducing, it is the women themselves – no assistance needed from the Fed.

But perhaps I have been deceived about the “insidious spread of misleading, medically inaccurate information about reproductive health.” The Governor talks as if women aren’t aware of the legal options. However, they seem to be advertised all over our City. Instead, it seems that governors like A. Cuomo have been attempting to muzzle the pro-life groups, but of course, I might be the product of their misinformation campaign.

Whom do I trust? Well, I’ve been told that we have to look at the past behavior and moral rectitude of the spokesmen themselves. This should tell us which parties are most likely to spread misinformation. I began to wonder whether proponents of abortion are exemplars of trustworthiness. I’ve always known that thieves can’t be trusted. They have established a strong track-record of deception.

But how about those who promote abortion? Isn’t abortion a matter of killing babies? But isn’t this just a matter of deception that babies are being killed? I began to recall the message of abortion – “Women have a right to their own bodies.” This always puzzled me. It seemed to me that more than a woman’s body was at stake. Before all else, the life of the infant was at stake, but it didn’t seem as if the pro-abortionists recognized this fact. Funny, the way language works.

But A. Cuomo must be a trustworthy man. He was elected governor, wasn’t he? And he speaks with such authority! But then I remembered the NY Post’s headline: “Gov. Cuomo to Conservatives: Leave NY!” Did he really say that? Not exactly! Here’s what he stated in an interview:

·       “They're searching to define their soul, that's what's going on. Is the Republican Party in this state a moderate party or is it an extreme conservative party?”  Cuomo then defined “extreme conservatives” as “right-to-life, pro-assault weapon, anti-gay,” and said such people “have no place in the state of New York, because that's not who New Yorkers are.” (LifesiteNews.com)

Evidently, according to the governor, this is what New Yorkers, at least some of them, are about. How, then, could he say that this is what some New Yorkers are about but then claim that they aren’t about this? Some said that, “This is just the way politicians speak.” In any event, he was clearly saying that those who disagreed with him on these issues “have no place in the state of New York.” Who then does have a place in NY State? Those who would kill their children or would celebrate this “right,” but those who wouldn’t would not be welcome. Something seemed wrong about this, perhaps even deceptive.

I began to feel very unwelcome in my own state, even deplorable. Perhaps my governor was right. Perhaps abortion is just a matter of removing unwanted tissue. That thought relieved me. But then I recalled the photos of babies in the womb. They seemed to be more than a mere collection of cells, and the photos should decide whether or not they are just tissue, wouldn’t they? But I’m told that this kind of evidence is just too “graphic.”  Who’s misleading whom?
