RICHARD HALVERSON’S PROPHETIC SENATE HOMILY

The Senate Chaplain, Richard C. Halverson (1981-95), prophetically warned the Senate:

·       No great nation or empire was defeated from without before it had rotted from within – spiritually, morally, ethically. America will be no exception. She will be destroyed not by forces without, but by her own decadence….the need is critical for her people to take a stand against the conditions contributing to the pollution and corruption of American life. Secular humanism, materialism, hedonism, self-indulgence, sexual permissiveness, drunkenness, drug abuse – a cancer is ravaging America’s health and strength. (No Greater Power, 46)

These prophetic words are being fulfilled before our very eyes. Our laws are no longer enforced; our borders can no longer be defended. Our debts as rising astronomically, and no one can or will even try to take control over them. Few are sounding the alarm that without money, we are also without might – to feed, to care for, to fix what is crumbling, and to advance. One source has claimed that:

·       The United States is on a path to financial ruin, and everyone can see what is happening, but nobody can seem to come up with a way to stop it.  According to the U.S. Treasury, the federal government is currently 22 trillion dollars in debt, and that represents the single largest debt in the history of the planet.  Over the past decade, we have been adding to that debt at a rate of about 1.1 trillion dollars a year, and we will add more than a trillion dollars to that total once again this year.  But when you add in our unfunded liabilities, our long-term financial outlook as a nation looks downright apocalyptic.  According to Boston University economics professor Laurence Kotlikoff, the U.S. is currently facing 200 trillion dollars in unfunded liabilities, and when you add that number to our 22 trillion dollar debt, you get a grand total of 222 trillion dollars. https://www.zerohedge.com/news/2019-03-29/true-size-us-national-debt-including-unfunded-liabilities-222-trillion-dollars

No wonder we cannot get anything done, as we greedily fight against our brethren to smear and to even imprison them. We even embrace those who want to destroy this country for momentary and political gains. Hatred deceptively speaks the words of love. We vote into power those who despise the Judeo-Christian values, upon which this country’s values and legal system are based, in favor of Sharia law, which denies equality, equal justice for all, and pursues world conquest. Ibn Khaldun, the 15th century Tunisian historian, stated:

  • In the Muslim community, the holy war is a religious duty, because of the universalism of the Muslim mission and the obligation to convert everybody to Islam either by persuasion or by force... The other religious groups did not have a universal mission, and the holy war was not a religious duty for them, save only for purposes of defense... Islam is under obligation to gain power over other nations.

This remains normative Islam and has extensive Quranic support:

  • “Make war on them until idolatry is no more and Allah’s religion (Islam) reigns supreme, (Quran 8:37)

  • “When the Sacred Months are over, kill those who ascribe partners [like Jesus] to God wheresoever ye find them; seize them, encompass them, and ambush them; then if they repent and observe prayer and pay the alms, let them go their way’.” (Quran 4:5)

  • “…kill the disbelievers wherever we find them” (Quran 2:191) and “murder them and treat them harshly” (Quran 9:123), and “Strike off the heads of the disbelievers” (Quran 8:12, 8:60).

We look for health as we are being ravished at the core of our being. After his brief Senate homily, Halverson prayed:

·       What will it take, O God, to make us know that we cannot do it alone? What calamity must fall before we humble ourselves and acknowledge our dependence on Thee?...Lord God help us. Quicken our minds to seek Thy wisdom, our hearts to repent, our wills to obey Thee. Return us to the noble dependence on Thee by which our forefathers persevered against incredible odds to give us our grand national legacy. In Jesus’ name. Amen!

How ironic! Today, as the rot strengthens its grip, such a prayer and homily would probably be unacceptable in the Senate. The very Source that can restore us is the Source that we now malign, quarantine, and seek to eventually crucify again.
