Politics does not care about truth! In a NYT article entitled “Ancient Judaism Recognized a Range of Genders. It’s Time We Did, Too,” the author, Rabbi Elliot Kukla, identifies as:
· transgender and nonbinary, and as a rabbi

Kukla, claims that ancient Judaism recognized a “range of
genders.” However, she cites no evidence of this from the collected writings of
the rabbis (the Talmud). However, in support of her claim, she does reference
Genesis:
·
Then God said, “Let us make man in our image,
after our likeness. And let them have dominion over the fish of the sea and
over the birds of the heavens and over the livestock and over all the earth and
over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.” So God created man in his
own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.
And God blessed them. And God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply and fill
the earth and subdue it, and have dominion over the fish of the sea and over
the birds of the heavens and over every living thing that moves on the earth.” (Genesis
1:26–28)
There is no way to break the binary barrier with these
verses. There are two individuals, who are to ““Be fruitful and multiply and
fill the earth.” Only a male and female can do this.
There is absolutely no evidence provided here to support
Kukla’s claim. However, it seems that a lack of evidence is irrelevant. It’s
just a matter of politics.
What is more disturbing is that the once-trusted NYT would
publish this piece. It reflects the fact that truth and evidence have been
rejected in favor of their political agenda, even one that destroys family
unity for the sake of mutilating our precious children.
