BIOLOGOS, DARWIN, AND BIBLICAL UNCERTAINTY

An advocate for the Biologos Foundation, which has been funded to evangelize the Church for evolution, wrote against the Biblical arguments that I had been presenting against Biologos:

·       "You begin with the assumption that your interpretation of the Bible is correct, then use as evidence that those who disagree with you are wrong by pointing out that they disagree with you. The only person entitled to do that is God Himself."

I RESPONDED:

“Your statement is very reflective of Biologos. It claims that we cannot take a strong stance on anything that the Bible teaches, because it is only our own interpretation, and only “God Himself” can objectively interpret it.

No wonder Biologos has such an anemic and non-evangelistic Christian presence. And no wonder; they are in doubt about the Bible’s teachings. Why? Because they have rejected the apparent and common sense interpretations in order to protect Darwinism against any legitimate Biblical attacks.

Instead, the Bible claims that we can have a full assurance about the teachings of Scripture. Paul prayed that:

·       Colossians 2:2-3 hearts may be encouraged, being knit together in love, to reach all the riches of FULL ASSURANCE OF UNDERSTANDING and the knowledge of God’s mystery, which is Christ, in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.

Besides, if you can have no objective certainty about what the Bible teaches, you cannot obey it. However, such skepticism contradicts the Bible on so many levels:

·       Deuteronomy 30:11-14  “For this commandment that I command you today is not too hard for you, neither is it far off.  It is not in heaven, that you should say, ‘Who will ascend to heaven for us and bring it to us, that we may hear it and do it?’ Neither is it beyond the sea, that you should say, ‘Who will go over the sea for us and bring it to us, that we may hear it and do it?’ But the word is very near you. It is in your mouth and in your heart, so that you can do it.”

In contrast, Biologos is very certain about evolution, while uncertain about Scripture. No wonder, they are staunch advocates of Darwin, but not for Jesus. After all, how can they be if, admittedly, they do not know how to interpret the Bible!

Biologos piously claims that we have to be humble about our interpretations of Scripture, while they are the opposite of humble about their advocacy of Darwinism.”
