EVANGELICAL UNIVERSALISM (EU) – All will be Saved after a period of cleansing (Purgatory).
·
and through him to reconcile to himself all
things, whether on earth or in heaven, making peace by the blood of his
cross. (Colossians 1:20)
However, the EU stops short of citing the following verses
- Colossians 1:21-23 And you, who once were alienated and hostile in mind, doing evil deeds, he has now reconciled in his body of flesh by his death, in order to present you holy and blameless and above reproach before him, if indeed you continue in the faith, stable and steadfast, not shifting from the hope of the gospel that you heard, which has been proclaimed in all creation under heaven, and of which I, Paul, became a minister.

·
Do not lie to one another, seeing that you
have put off the old self with its practices and have put on the new
self, which is being renewed in knowledge after the image of its creator.
Here there is not Greek and Jew, circumcised and uncircumcised, barbarian,
Scythian, slave, free; but Christ is all, and in all. (Colossians
3:9-11)
·
Colossians 3:12 Put on then, as God’s
chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassionate hearts, kindness, humility,
meekness, and patience.
·
Galatians 3:26-28 for in Christ Jesus
you are all sons of God, through faith. For as many of you as were baptized
into Christ have put on Christ. There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is
neither slave nor free, there is no male and female, for you are all one in
Christ Jesus. And if you are Christ’s, then you are Abraham’s offspring,
heirs according to promise.
Verses Against EU:
·
Daniel 12:2 “And many of them that sleep
in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to
shame and everlasting contempt.”
·
Matthew 25:46 “And these shall go away
into eternal punishment: but the righteous into eternal life.”
·
Matthew 12:32 “And whosoever shall speak a word against the
Son of man, it shall be forgiven him; but whosoever shall speak against the
Holy Spirit, it shall not be forgiven him, neither in this world, nor in
that which is to come. ”
·
Matthew 7:21-23 “Not every one
that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but
he that doeth the will of my Father who is in heaven. Many will say to me
in that day, Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy by thy name, and by thy name cast
out demons, and by thy name do many mighty works? And then will I profess unto
them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.”
·
Matthew 5:20 “For I say unto you, that
except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and
Pharisees, ye shall in no wise enter into the kingdom of heaven.”
·
Luke 13:24 "Strive to enter through
the narrow door. For many, I tell you, will seek to enter and will not be
able.”
·
John 3:36 Whoever believes in the Son has
eternal life, but whoever rejects the Son will not (“never” ESV)
see life, for God's wrath remains on him."
·
1 Corinthians 6:9–10 Or do you not know
that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be
deceived: neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men
who practice homosexuality, nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor
revilers, nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God.
·
Galatians 5:21 I warn you, as I warned
you before, that those who do such things will not inherit the kingdom
of God.
·
Ephesians 5:5 For you may be sure of
this, that everyone who is sexually immoral or impure, or who is covetous (that
is, an idolater), has no inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and God.
·
Hebrews 6:8 but if it beareth thorns and
thistles, it is rejected and nigh unto a curse; whose end is to be
burned.

Jude 1:7 Even as Sodom and Gomorrah, and
the cities about them, having in like manner with these given themselves over
to fornication and gone after strange flesh, are set forth as an example,
suffering the punishment of eternal fire.
·
Jude 1:13 wild waves of the sea, foaming
out their own shame; wandering stars, for whom the blackness of darkness hath
been reserved forever.
EU is destructive of the entire Christian faith.
CRITICAL RACE THEORY – DIVIDING CHURCH
Critical Race Theorists (CRTs) allege that whites are
invariably racist “oppressors,” even if they don’t recognize it, and that
racism is engrained in the fabric of the American society - guilty without any
hope of being proven innocent: “This is the analytical lens that CRT uses in
examining existing power structures. CRT identifies that these power structures
are based on white privilege and white supremacy, which perpetuates the
marginalization of people of color. (“What is Critical Race Theory?” UCLA
School of Public Affairs, Critical Race Studies, https://spacrs.wordpress.com/what-is-critical-race-theory)
IMPACT: An immigrant from Thailand, married to a
Caucasian, read aloud from a letter she wrote to the Williams County School
Superintendent detailing the tremendously disturbing emotional impact this
curriculum had on their sever-year-old son who as a result now despises the
“white” half of himself. She then elaborated, “The story of Dr. King and his
‘I Have a Dream’ speech is beautiful and uplifting. This is the world my child
lived in until now. He was color bind. But this curriculum has changed that. It
is far more harmful than helpful. It depresses him. It is dark and divisive. It
paints a world with only white and black people. It paints a picture of poor
black people being attacked by evil white people.” (Richard Land)
Mrs. Xi Van Fleet to a school board teaching CRT: “You
are now teaching, training our children to be social justice warriors and to
loathe our country and our history…To me, and to a lot of Chinese, it is
heartbreaking that we escaped communism and now we experience communism here. .
. . The Communist regime used the same critical theory to divide people. . . .
The only difference is they used class instead of race."
Sasha Johnson, of the British chapter of Black Lives Matter,
called for a “racial offenders register” for whites: “The white man
will not be our equal, but our slave. History is changing. No justice, no peace
#BLM.” https://townhall.com/columnists/ilanamercer/2021/05/28/a-whiteout-of-whites-ignoring-the-albino-dhimmi-elephant-in-the-room-n2590147
Division and
Criticism
Marxism: Division between the “oppressed” (the “woke” those
who are awake) and the “oppressors,” who must be silenced and re-educated by
the “oppressed.”
•
Dennis Grimski: The strategy of Marxists is
always to cultivate a victimized group and then convince its members that
solidarity is required against the oppressors. This creates divisiveness,
resentment and hatred and is how Marxist ideologies fulfill their revolutionary
objectives.

•
Kenneth Craycraft: The fact remains, contends
Marx, that where religious institutions are present, exploitation and
alienation also are present. Religion is an ideology…and which, like any other
ideology, is used by the ruling class to legitimate its power. The very
presence of religion, by definition, means that real human emancipation cannot
yet have occurred…Religion will not be abolished by criticism, but rather by
action, i.e., changing the situation in which religion is fostered. Religion is
just another form of illusion which disappears when other forms of illusion
(including ultimately the state) also disappear.

Constant Criticism (CRT) to Destroy any Opposition:
•
Max Horkheimer (Frankfort School for Cultural
Marxism and Critical Theory: “It is not economics that creates oppression but
rather the nuclear family, traditional institutions, traditional morality and
concepts of race, gender and sexual identity. These are the chains of tyranny
which must be broken by revolution.”
•
Horkheimer: “…It recognized that disinterested
scientific research was impossible in a society in which men were themselves
not yet autonomous…the researcher was always part of the social object he was
attempting to study.”
•
Herbert Marcuse (Frankfort School): “One can
rightfully speak of a cultural revolution since the protest is directed toward
the whole of society and its cultural establishment, including the
morality of the existing society. What we must undertake is a diffuse
disintegration of the entire societal system.”

Political Correctness, Cancel Culture
è
CRT Strategy - to Vilify “Oppressors”: “Systemic
racism is the cause of disparities. If you doubt that, it is because you are a
racist who wants to protect your power and keep those disparities in place.
This has to be true because, if you were not racist, you would know that the
cause of disparities is… racism.” (Voddie Baucham)
All in the Same Boat:
•
Romans 6:22–23 But now that you have been
set free from sin and have become slaves of God, the fruit you get leads
to sanctification and its end, eternal life. For the wages of sin is death, but
the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
•
Romans 3:10–12 as it is written: “None
is righteous, no, not one; no one understands; no one seeks for God. All
have turned aside; together they have become worthless; no one does good, not
even one.”
There must be Unity within the Body of Christ:
•
Do not explain racism to a POC. Do not
explain how the microaggression they just experienced was actually just someone
being nice. Do not explain how a particular injustice is more about class than
race. It’s an easy trap to fall into, but you can avoid it by maintaining a
posture of active listening. (“Be the Bridge” Facebook group)
•
Ephesians 4:3–5 [We must be] eager to maintain
the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. There is one body and one
Spirit—just as you were called to the one hope that belongs to your call—one
Lord, one faith, one baptism.
•
John 17:21–23 [Jesus prayed] “that they may all be one,
just as you, Father, are in me, and I in you, that they also may be in us, so
that the world may believe that you have sent me. The glory that you have given
me I have given to them, that they may be one even as we are one, I in
them and you in me, that they may become perfectly one, so that the
world may know that you sent me and loved them even as you loved me.”
Once an Oppressor, always an Oppressor?
•
Galatians 3:27–28 For as many of you as
were baptized into Christ have put on Christ. There is neither Jew nor Greek,
there is neither slave nor free, there is no male and female, for you are all one
in Christ Jesus.
Justice Opposes Favoritism:
•
Deuteronomy 24:16 “Fathers shall not be
put to death because of their children, nor shall children be put to death
because of their fathers. Each one shall be put to death for his own sin.”
•
Exodus 23:2–3 You shall not fall in with
the many to do evil, nor shall you bear witness in a lawsuit, siding with the
many, so as to pervert justice, nor shall you be partial to a poor man in his
lawsuit.
•
Ezekiel 18:19–20 “Yet you say, ‘Why
should not the son suffer for the iniquity of the father?’ When the son has
done what is just and right, and has been careful to observe all my statutes,
he shall surely live. The soul who sins shall die. The son shall not suffer for
the iniquity of the father, nor the father suffer for the iniquity of the son.
The righteousness of the righteous shall be upon himself, and the wickedness of
the wicked shall be upon himself.
•
James 2:8–9 If you really fulfill the
royal law according to the Scripture, “You shall love your neighbor as yourself,”
you are doing well. But if you show partiality, you are committing sin and are
convicted by the law as transgressors.
Systemic Racism?
•
According to federal Bureau of Justice
Statistics, in interracial violence involving blacks and whites, white
perpetrators account for 15 percent of the cases while black perpetrators
account for 85 percent. In other words, far from there being an epidemic of
whites “hunting down innocent, unarmed black men,” when it comes to interracial
violence, black people are overwhelmingly more likely to victimize white people
than the other way around. (Baucham, 166)
•
A police officer is 18.5 times more likely to be
killed by a black assailant than an unarmed black man is to be killed by a cop.
(Baucham, 166)
•
The best research on the topic of fatal
officer-involved shootings (FOIS) has been clear, as were the findings of
Harvard economist Roland G. Fryer Jr. in a forthcoming study. “On the most
extreme use of force, FOIS,” he writes, “we find no racial difference in either
the raw data or when contextual factors are taken into account.” Fryer was
actually surprised by his findings. (Baucham, 48)
•
Meanwhile, a National Academy of Sciences study
ignited controversy when its authors proclaimed, “We find no evidence of
anti-Black or anti-Hispanic disparities across shootings, and White officers
are not more likely to shoot minority civilians than non-White officers.”
(Baucham, 48)
•
I reject the idea that America is “characterized
by racism,” or that racism is an unavoidable byproduct of our national DNA. In
fact, I believe America is one of the least racist countries in the world. (Baucham,
201)
