The skeptic will challenge: “There is no evidence for ID.”
However, we are surrounded with the evidence. Everything, from
the smallest atom to the laws of science and the behavior of the heavenly
bodies, has the appearance of intelligent design (ID). Meanwhile, nothing
has the appearance of non-design. This is God’s world, and His fingerprints are
visible in everything, whether directly or indirectly through His laws.
However, to prove design, mustn’t we provide examples of
non-design? No! There are no examples of non-design. That’s the point. The
skeptic believes in natural laws and substances, but there is not a shred of evidence
for their existence. Even “chaos” seems to possess ID. Instead, everything
belongs to the Creator.
Why then disbelief? This requires an investigation of motives—just
what Jesus does:
·
“And this is the judgment: the light has come
into the world, and people loved the darkness rather than the light because
their works were evil.0For everyone who does wicked things hates the light and
does not come to the light, lest his works should be exposed.” (John 3:19–20)
Consequently, we are self-condemned for our refusal to
believe.
