Whenever King David considered fight or flight, he consulted
the Lord. He understood that victory is of the Lord - every victory.
However, we tend to be too confident in ourselves - in our
strengths, abilities, and even in our understanding. In this, we demonstrate an
unbiblical self-confidence. Paul even warned us against this:
- Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall. (1 Corinthians 10:12; ASV)
I still battle against such confidence. The Lord has shown
me that the more confident I am in self, the less in God and the less I will
pray.
