Why are we so determined to destroy ourselves? Why
does the West make itself vulnerable to migrants whose religion demands the
destruction of the West?
Why do Whites confess that they deserve mistreatment
and attempt to shame other Whites into thinking that their skin color makes them
guilty?
When we reject the atonement of the Lord, the Cross
of Christ, we inevitably succumb to a variety of other self-atonement schemes,
even suicide like Judas, in the hope of finding cleansing.
Judas' conscience was tormented after he betrayed
Jesus for a few silver coins. Instead of seeking His forgiveness, Judas was
determined to pay for his sin by hanging himself.
Why do we insist on atoning for our own sins? Why not
simply humbling ourselves before our Savior to receive His forgiveness and
spiritual cleansing (1 John 1:9)?
We have a deeply embedded script. Because of this
hidden set of instructions, we know that a price is required for our sins. When
we reject Jesus' payment for sin, we are spiritually compelled to come up with
our own payment.
However, our payment will never be enough. The Psalms
warns us that:
- No one can redeem the life of another or give to God a ransom for them— the ransom for a life is costly, no payment is ever enough— so that they should live on forever and not see decay. (Psalm 49:7-9)
Nevertheless, we continue to make costly payments to
try to prove our worthiness, while rejecting that one sufficient
payment.
