There are several considerations which rule against
polytheism and the closely related spiritism:
Multiple first and sufficient causes are less likely than just
One sufficient eternal cause for all.
·
The order, harmony, immutability, and design of
the universe argues against the dabbling in creation of many minds. Since we do
not note any changes or dabbling with matter, energy, and the laws of science,
it is likely to assume that the creation comes from One super-mind.
·
Many minds and wills tend to give rise to
competition and disorder, However, the fact that we can learn and do science
argues against disorder and in favor of one harmonious order. However, if there
are many gods, then there is no reason to believe that they would all operate with
the same system of logic. Timothy McCabe wrote:
o
If two equally sovereign creator gods disagree
on any point, noncontradiction [logical agreement] is no longer a valid test of
truth. Without noncontradiction, there can be no test of truth at all, and
rational thought goes out the window. https://www.godcontention.org/christian/an-easy-way-to-demonstrate-that-polytheism-is-false

If these multiple gods are identical in truths
and values, then they would more closely resemble Trinity and not polytheism.
·
Polytheistic societies will tend to have
incoherent moral and legal codes, since the various gods will have different
morals. Consequently, these societies tend to be quite violent, since there is no coherent morality to check
our destructive impulses.
·
Today’s polytheistic nations only thrive when
they adopt Western ways and values. This suggests that they do not align with the
reality they supposedly created. To be in line with reality enables better
management and decision-making.
·
They tend to be non-evidential. Instead, reliance
is upon personal experiences with spirit entities and their costly deceptions.
Wiccans claim they can discern between good and malevolent spirits. However,
this might simply be part of spirit deception. They also claim that the spirits
are just a matter of “what works for you.” In contrast, Jesus proved His love
for us by willingly dying for our sins, even when we hated Him.
Why then do people gravitate towards spiritism? The spirits
present themselves as amoral, non-judgmental - “anything goes.” This is the
very thing our young adults are looking for. The cardinal rule among wiccans is
to not judge others. This gives us some idea about what is attractive to them.
However, a world without moral truths and standards leaves them confused and
vulnerable.
