CRITICAL RACE THEORY (CRT), THE BIBLE, AND PARTNERING IN EVIL

 

 

 

Jesus had prayed: “that they may all be one, just as you, Father, are in me, and I in you, that they also may be in us, so that the world may believe that you have sent me. The glory that you have given me I have given to them, that they may be one even as we are one, I in them and you in me, that they may become perfectly one, so that the world may know that you sent me and loved them even as you loved me.” (John 17:21–23)

 

However, CRT is dividing churches and believers according to color, according to the “oppressed” and the “oppressors.” Therefore, out of love for our Lord and His people, it must be opposed. Therefore, I want to argue that CRT contradicts the Bible in just about every way.

 

Critical Race Theorists (CRTs) allege that whites are invariably racist “oppressors,” even if they don’t recognize it, and that racism is ingrained in the fabric of the American society. Therefore, those deemed “oppressors” by virtue of their whiteness and “white privilege” are guilty without any hope of being proven innocent. However, this is evil:

·       Do not speak evil against one another, brothers. The one who speaks against a brother or judges his brother, speaks evil against the law and judges the law. But if you judge the law, you are not a doer of the law but a judge. There is only one lawgiver and judge, he who is able to save and to destroy. But who are you to judge your neighbor? (James 4:11–12)

 

Guilt according to color is vial racism and is a direct violation of God and His Word. Instead, the Bible declares us all sinners who need the Savior:

 

·       as it is written: “None is righteous, no, not one; no one understands; no one seeks for God. All have turned aside; together they have become worthless; no one does good, not even one.” (Romans 3:10–12)

 

Even if it could be proved that whites had been the greatest sinners, in Christ our guilt is washed away:

 

·       If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. (1 John 1:8–9, 1 Timothy 15-16)

 

All believers should be regarded ,as brethren:

 

·       Here there is not Greek and Jew, circumcised and uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave, free; but Christ is all, and in all. (Colossians 3:11)

 

However, CRT and its parent CT and Marxism, deny central Biblical truths. Dennis Grimski has written that:

 

·       Their strategy is always to cultivate a victimized group and then convince its members that solidarity is required against the oppressors. However, these Marxist ideologies directly contradict the teachings of the Bible:

 

·       Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse them. Rejoice with those who rejoice, weep with those who weep. Live in harmony with one another. Do not be haughty, but associate with the lowly. Never be wise in your own sight. Repay no one evil for evil, but give thought to do what is honorable in the sight of all. If possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all. Beloved, never avenge yourselves, but leave it to the wrath of God, for it is written, “Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says the Lord.” To the contrary, “if your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him something to drink; for by so doing you will heap burning coals on his head.” Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good. (Romans 12:14-21)

 

Perhaps the leading voice today in CRT is Ibram X. Kendi. His strategy promotes endless conflict:

 

·       “the only remedy to past discrimination is present discrimination. The only remedy to present discrimination is future discrimination.” (How to Be an Anti-Racist)

 

Racism will not be overcome with more racism. Instead:

 

·       For you were called to freedom, brothers. Only do not use your freedom as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another. For the whole law is fulfilled in one word: “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” (Galatians 5:13-14)

 

Scripture consistently rejects racism. God forgives even those among the Canaanites who had been under the judgment of God. The prostitute Rahab of Jericho is remembered as a woman of faith (Hebrews 11:31). Paul had opposed Peter and others who acted in a racist manner by separating themselves from the gentile believers:
 

·       For before certain men came from James, [Peter] was eating with the Gentiles; but when they came he drew back and separated himself, fearing the circumcision party. And the rest of the Jews acted hypocritically along with him, so that even Barnabas was led astray by their hypocrisy. But when I saw that their conduct was not in step with the truth of the gospel, I said to Cephas before them all, “If you, though a Jew, live like a Gentile and not like a Jew, how can you force the Gentiles to live like Jews? (Galatians 2:12–14; Genesis 1:26-27)

 

 

 

CRT Marxists use unrelenting criticism to destroy and replace the existing culture:

 

·       “What people must understand is that we're living at a time when the conflict and the racial accusations that are being made are intentional, with no hope or desire of any reconciliation or mutual understanding.” (Pastor Emeritus Erwin Lutzer)

 

Christians, however, are instructed to forgive and to not destroy:

·       Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you. (Ephesians 4:32)

 

“NO JUSTICE, NO PEACE” – For the CRT Marxists, there will never be enough justice, only revolution: Frankfort School Marxist, Max Horkheimer, had written:

 

·       “It is not economics that creates oppression but rather the nuclear family, traditional institutions, traditional morality and concepts of race, gender and sexual identity. These are the chains of tyranny which must be broken by revolution.” (Grimski)

 

However, according to the Bible, the “revolution” must begin in our own deceived hearts:

 

·       So Jesus said to the Jews who had believed him, “If you abide in my word, you are truly my disciples, and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” (John 8:31–32)

 

Before we can correct anyone else, Jesus requires us to first correct ourselves:

·       “Judge not, that you be not judged. For with the judgment you pronounce you will be judged, and with the measure you use it will be measured to you. Why do you see the speck that is in your brother’s eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye? Or how can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when there is the log in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your brother’s eye. (Matthew 7:1–5)

 

·        “But I say to you, Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, so that you may be sons of your Father who is in heaven. For he makes his sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust. (Matthew 5:44–45)

 

Therefore, we too must love, even our enemies. In contrast, Herbert Marcuse of the Marxist Frankfort School advocated destruction:

 

·       What we must undertake is a diffuse disintegration of the entire societal system.” (Grimski)

 

However, the Bible offers the opposite counsel:

 

·       Be subject for the Lord’s sake to every human institution, whether it be to the emperor as supreme, or to governors as sent by him to punish those who do evil and to praise those who do good. For this is the will of God, that by doing good you should put to silence the ignorance of foolish people. (1 Peter 2:13–15)

 

CRT founder, Derrick Bell, had echoed his Marxist thinking:

However, even amid the ruthless Roman rule, Jesus stated, “Render unto Caesar that things that are Caesars.” Even against those with who He disputed, He had counseled obedience:

 

·        “The scribes and the Pharisees sit on Moses’ seat, so do and observe whatever they tell you, but not the works they do. For they preach, but do not practice. (Matthew 23:2–3)

 

CRT Marxists dismiss any reason or evidence presented by the opposition. A leading CRT voice, Kimberlé Crenshaw, similarly dismissed anything that the “oppressor” might present:

 

·       “Scholarship about race in America can never be written from a distance of detachment or with an attitude of objectivity…Scholarship—the formal production, identification, and organization of what will be called ‘knowledge’—is inevitably political.” (The Key Writings that Formed the Movement)

 

CT Max Horkheimer also wrote:

 

·       “…It recognized that disinterested scientific research was impossible in a society in which men were themselves not yet autonomous.” (Grimski)

 

This is just blatant injustice. Instead of evidence, CRTs are taught to denigrate the speaker. They have no room for justice. CRTs have excluded and divided the nation. Instead, the Gospel invites all to partake:

 

·        “For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek; for the same Lord is Lord of all, bestowing his riches on all who call on him. (Romans 10:12)

 

In the Bible truth and evidence are central to everything:

 

·       Behold, you delight in truth in the inward being, and you teach me wisdom in the secret heart. (Psalm 51:6)

 

In contrast, for the CRT, there is nothing higher than achieving their own revolutionary agenda. However, justice is central to the Bible and to a righteous God:

·       “Fathers shall not be put to death because of their children, nor shall children be put to death because of their fathers. Each one shall be put to death for his own sin.” (Deuteronomy 24:16)

 

We are all equals under the law and are to be found guilty only according to our own behaviors:

 

·       You shall not fall in with the many to do evil, nor shall you bear witness in a lawsuit, siding with the many, so as to pervert justice, nor shall you be partial to a poor man in his lawsuit. (Exodus 23:2–3)

 

However, CRT is always partial, and justice doesn’t count:

 

·        “Yet you say, ‘Why should not the son suffer for the iniquity of the father?’ When the son has done what is just and right, and has been careful to observe all my statutes, he shall surely live. The soul who sins shall die. The son shall not suffer for the iniquity of the father, nor the father suffer for the iniquity of the son. The righteousness of the righteous shall be upon himself, and the wickedness of the wicked shall be upon himself. (Ezekiel 18:19–20)

 

Division and victimization are CRT strategies to silence the “oppressors.” Black scholar and college founder and president, Voddie Baucham, accurately depicts CRT’s strategy:

 

·       “Systemic racism is the cause of disparities. If you doubt that, it is because you are a racist who wants to protect your power and keep those disparities in place. This has to be true because, if you were not racist, you would know that the cause of disparities is… racism.” (Fault Lines)

 

However, even Christian leaders have adopted this nonsense and have introduced this poison into their churches, even though it is in direct violation of the Scriptures:

 

·       For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ. There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is no male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus. (Galatians 3:27–28)

 

Equality, not partiality, is the goal of the Gospel:

 

·       If you really fulfill the royal law according to the Scripture, “You shall love your neighbor as yourself,” you are doing well. But if you show partiality, you are committing sin and are convicted by the law as transgressors. (James 2:8–9)

 

According to CRTs, “oppressors” have forfeited their right to speak. “Be the Bridge,” a Facebook group, has written accordingly:

 

·       Do not explain racism to a POC [a person of color]. Do not explain how the microaggression they just experienced was actually just someone being nice. Do not explain how a particular injustice is more about class than race. It’s an easy trap to fall into, but you [the “oppressor”] can avoid it by maintaining a posture of active listening.

 

However, in the Church there is a place for us all to speak the truth in love (Ephesians 4:15), since we all have the mind of Christ (1 Corinthians 2:15-16). We have been made One. Therefore:

 

·        [We must be] eager to maintain the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. There is one body and one Spirit—just as you were called to the one hope that belongs to your call—one Lord, one faith, one baptism. (Ephesians 4:3–5)

 

Meanwhile, CRT’s goal is to divide and destroy what they regard as the #1 oppressor – the Church. Instead, our duty is to love, especially our brethren:

 

·        “A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another. By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.” (John 13:34–35)

 

Is there systemic racism against blacks? All the laws barring their entry into society have been struck down. Baucham has written:

 

·       I reject the idea that America is “characterized by racism,” or that racism is an unavoidable byproduct of our national DNA. In fact, I believe America is one of the least racist countries in the world. (201)

 

We are to vigorously defend our Faith (Jude 3) and expose evil, especially the evil that has entered the Church:

 

·       Take no part in the unfruitful works of darkness, but instead expose them. (Ephesians 5:11)

 

If our leaders refuse to repent of this evil, they should be exposed, and believers should leave and find a church that is faithful to our Savior according to His Word. To support such churches is to partner in their evil.
