The Biblical faith has always relied upon reason, evidence,
and the work of the Holy Spirit. Consequently, there isn’t a single verse in the
New Testament advocating coercion. This is because the Christian faith does not
need to rely upon coercion or hucksterism. Jesus even warned against placing
our faith in Him without adequate evidences:
·
“If I am not doing the works [miracles] of my Father,
then do not believe me; but if I do them, even though you do not believe me,
believe the works, that you may know and understand that the Father is in me
and I am in the Father.” (John 10:37-38; ESV; also John 5:31-38)
As a reflection of this, Western nations that have emerged
from a Biblical foundation have not used coercion and only rarely have they
restricted criticism against the Christian faith. However, this is
diametrically opposed to what we have observed in Muslim and Communist nations,
where any criticism has been criminalized with the strictest penalties, even
death.
Consequently, as Islamists and Leftists have been gaining
influence in the West, freedoms of speech and of religion (at least of the
Christian faith) have been steadily eliminated.
The latest example of this comes out of Canada:
·
The Liberal government of Justin Trudeau will
ban any employer from receiving summer job grants for students if the employer
doesn't first sign an “attestation” that they agree with abortion and
transgender "rights."
·
In order to receive federal Canada job grants,
employers must attest that: “both the job and the organization’s core mandate
respect individual human rights in Canada, including the values underlying the
Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms as well as other rights. These include
reproductive rights and the right to be free from discrimination on the basis
of sex, religion, race, national or ethnic origin, colour, mental or physical
disability, sexual orientation, or gender identity or expression.” https://www.lifesitenews.com/news/breaking-canada-wont-fund-student-summer-jobs-unless-employers-demonstrate?utm_source=LifeSiteNews.com&utm_campaign=18b0ee4261-Daily%2520Headlines%2520-%2520U.S.&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_12387f0e3e-18b0ee4261-401443397
This is nothing short than the imposition of a stifling, militaristic,
and totalitarian secular religion intended to take the place of the freedoms
that had predominated.
While many progressives who agree with this new faith do not
experience its coercive and suppressive power, they eventually wil,l as Pastor
Martin Niemoller has once confessed about the encroaching National Socialism
that had been overtaking the German people:
- First the Nazis went after the Jews, but I was not a Jew so I did not object. Then they went after the trade-unionists, but I was not a trade-unionist so I did not object. Then they came after me, and there was no one left to object.
Niemoller was eventually thrown into a National Socialist
death camp.
